Celebrity Gogglebox viewers baffled as Lawrence Chaney sings 'classic' school song

Celebrity Gogglebox is back on our screen once more and Glasgow's Lawrence Chaney is on the sofa with Tia Kofi.

Lawrence shot to fame after appearing on Ru Paul's Drag Race UK, although he was already a household name in the Scottish drag scene. Lawrence and Tia joined the cast of Celebrity Gogglebox and caught up on this week's tele viewing.

Kicking off the episode, Lawrence showcased a classic assembly song he sung at school. He belted out 'You canny shove your granny', a song made popular by the Sining Kettle, while his pal Tia Kofi watched in pure confusion. But it wasn't just Tia who was baffled this evening.

Fans of Celebrity Gogglebox were all saying the same thing on Twitter as the episode introduced each cast member around the UK. Within minutes of the show starting, viewers claimed they didn't know who anyone was.

One fan tweeted: "They should rename this One or two celebrities on Gogglebox. Or just Who!?"

"Where the hell have you got these z list celebrities from? So few regulars left", a second added.

A third said: "Who are Tia & Lawrence and can someone tell him it’s SHOVE yer granny off a bus no push!"

And another blamed it on age: "I've finally reached the age where I barely recognise any of the celebrities on #GoggleBox"

Meanwhile one fan praised Channel 4 for the amount of diversity in the episode: "Just loving the representation and visibility of the #LGBTQIA community and allies on #gogglebox tonight! Congratulations to #channel4."

Celebrity Gogglebox is on Channel 4 on Friday at 9pm and on All4.
