Celebrity Gogglebox's Rylan Clark defends himself after fans accuse him of being 'horrible' to mum Linda

Rylan Clark took to social media to defend himself following comments made by Celebrity Gogglebox viewers as the latest episode aired.

The 33-year-old appeared on the Channel 4 show with his mum Linda, with the pair watching TV highlights of the week together from his home in Essex. They were seen laughing as Linda, 69, struggled to remember the name of the food she had a craving for.

Both Rylan and viewers at home were left baffled as Linda attempted to ask for what turned out to be sushi, describing the mystery food as “chicken with breadcrumbs round it”. Rylan was seen teasing his mum over the moment of forgetfulness - but the funny moment led to some nasty messages from internet trolls, the Manchester Evening news reports .

Rylan was forced to respond to the criticism on Twitter, writing: “For anyone saying I’m horrible to mum please get a sense of humour, she got her sushi… also built her a house, whatever she asks for, and a new hedge trimmer this week… she’s good.”

He signed off with a message to his followers to “look after your mums, and also have a laugh with them”, as the latest Celebrity Gogglebox series came to a close. And Rylan’s fans were quick to defend the star and his sweet relationship with his mum.

“Anyone criticising doesn’t understand that mum-son bond, me and my son absolutely destroy each other with sarcastic humour but I know my son loves me to bits and would do anything for me!” one person wrote in support. “Some people need to seriously get a life, love watching the way you and your mum interact!”

Another added: “You don’t need to explain anything, nor what you do for your mum. Anyone with any sense sees you have a lovely relationship, you have fun teasing each other and you love her.”

“Rylan, don’t pay attention to what people say,” reassured a third. “We all know you love your mum and she loves you, you have a great rapport with each other and you are both a hoot, you both have me in stitches of laughter.”
