Celebrity Gogglebox's Jon Richardson did a brilliant impression of the Welsh traitor on The Bridge and the reality contestant has just responded

Celebrity Gogglebox has responded following the dramatic exit of David Davison from The Bridge. David, who was born in Carmarthenshire, left the Channel 4 reality series with £25,000 but not before he angered his fellow contestants by destroying five sections of the team's bridge, which you can read more about here. The stars of Celebrity Gogglebox gave their two-pence on David's early exit and in particular, comedian Jon Richardson, who did his own impression of the Welsh contestant. This, in turn, prompted a reaction from David on social media.

Both Jon and wife Anna were happy with David's decision to cause chaos in the series. Anna said: “This is what we need. We need a sob story,” as David issued a plea to leave to his fellow contestants. Then, when the Welsh TikTok star was made to hack away at the bridge, Anna Richardson simply shouted: “Yes!” and revelled in the drama.

Jon, who sided with David, suggested that The Bridge should air an episode at the end in which the contestants have to talk to each other again. He said: “With 25 grand, it’s not as if he’s going to turn up in a Lamborghini, it’ll be a second-hand Yaris." He then did an impression of David’s strong Welsh accent and said: “I bought a new suit and I took my Mum to Toby Carvery so thanks for that.”

Jon Richardson's Welsh impression went down well with David (Channel 4)

David managed to catch Jon's accurate impression of him and responded on his popular TikTok and Instagram pages. He said: "Absolutely love Jon Richardson too, its a pleasure to have him take the mick out of me". As somewhat of a comedian himself, an impression from Jon would have been somewhat of an honour.

Jon and Anna were not the only celebrities who were shocked by David's early departure. Rylan Clarke shouted: “Oh my God, no!” as David found out that he had to destroy five sections of his team’s bridge. Gok Wan, meanwhile, called the show, “awful”, for making him do it. When Rylan’s mother, Linda, said that she would do the same, the This Morning presenter called her a “horrible b*****d”.

Elsewhere, comedian Mo Gilligan described it as “so brutal”. He added that it’s “so cold blooded that [he] loves it”. In the eight-part series, 16 strangers compete for the chance to win £200,000. The group faces the ultimate test of physical ability, mental skill and teamwork in Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. Going head-to-head, two teams have to build a bridge over 1,000 feet of water in just 12 days to reach the cash which lies below a tower on an island between both beaches. But only one person from the winning team can take home the huge amount of money.

All episodes of The Bridge: Race to a Fortune: Series 2 are now available to watch on All4. It also airs weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays on Channel 4.
