Celebrity Gogglebox fans have hit out at Channel 4 for 'shunting' the popular show from its usual time slot and delaying its return to screens in favour of the England match on Friday night.
What started as a one-off special for charity a few years back, capitalising on the massively popularity of Gogglebox, the show has gone from strength to strength and is just as much a ratings winner as the original. A whole host of stars have given their opinions from their couches so far, with the Celebrity Gogglebox cast for the new series, featuring quite possibly the most randomly amazing collection of famous faces to date.
Among the celebs who've signed up to take part this time round are Jane McDonald, together with her best friend Sue, newly confirmed Wimbledon host Clare Balding and her wife and Davina McCall and her partner Michael Douglas. They join returning pairs like Roman and Martin Kemp and Bez and Shaun Ryder for the latest run of the show, with fans very excited and intrigue to see them all in action.
Gogglebox has occupied the 9pm slot on Channel 4 on a Friday night for each of its series so far. so it came as a shock to those who tuned in at 9 o'clock on Friday, that rather than seeing the celebs react to shows like The 1% Club and The Yorkshire Vet, they were instead greeted by England in action against Malta, as the broadcaster prioritised its coverage of the Euros qualifier.
Seriously unimpressed by the scheduling, one viewer took to Twitter to post: "Went to watch the start of @C4Gogglebox … to see football is on and it’s not on till 10pm tonight!" And, despite England being 3-0 up at the time of writing, someone else tweeted: "Much rather watch that than this c**p"
