Rylan Clark has revealed the real reason behind why he and his mum didn't appear on Celebrity Gogglebox last year. The TV presenter and his mother Linda were popular fixtures on the first two seasons of the Channel 4 reality spin-off programme, but were not part of series three.
Previously, it was reported that the mother and son duo had to miss out on the 2021 series due to Linda's health, as she has Crohn's disease. But sitting alongside his mum on the This Morning sofa today (June 10), Rylan revealed that last year it was actually because he "wasn't well", The Daily Star reports.
During an interview on the ITV daytime show, where they were talking about their return to the Channel 4 show tonight, Linda was asked by host Alison Hammond how she was feeling. In response, Linda said it "wasn't me" who was unwell and then turned to her son.

"It wasn't [mum], it was actually me," Rylan explained: "Obviously, last year, I wasn't too well and at the time, [the excuse] was 'mum isn't too well with her Crohn's' but yeah, no, it was actually me who wasn't too well last year."
"Oh was that the reason?" Alison asked. "Oh ok, what a lovely mum though to take the brunt."
"She's always taking the fall for her son," Rylan replied. "It's so nice to be back to Gogglebox as well.
"We were a bit gutted that we couldn't do last year. We were going to but then things changed."
The star took a work break last year after announcing his split from husband of six years Dan Neal in June. But after being asked how he was feeling by Alison, he said he was "really good" and they were "thrilled to be back" filming for the fourth season of Celebrity Gogglebox.
The TV and radio personality, who first shot to fame after entering the X Factor in 2012, also revealed how he would be returning to host This Morning for one week during the summer alongside his "TV mum" Ruth Langsford. "I can't say no to Ruth, can I?," he told Alison and Dermot O'Leary.
Celebrity Gogglebox starts tonight at 9pm on Channel 4 and All4. This Morning airs weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub from 10am.
