Celebrity Bake Off fans confused as Jesy Nelson gets assistance due to long nails

Celebrity Bake Off fans were left baffled during the first episode of the new season by Jesy Nelson’s choice of ensemble.

The show, which is in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, saw Matt Lucas host the star-studded line-up as judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith tasked Friends star David Schwimmer, Jesy, New Zealand comedian Rose Matafeo and actor Tom Davis to a series of challenging bakes.

However as the bakers got busy in the tent, many fans felt Jesy hadn't really prepared as she had to be helped by pro baker Prue Leith.

Prue had to step in to help Jesy due to her long nails and the singer admitted she “hadn’t thought them through.”

Many fans flocked to Twitter to talk about Jesy's error.

One penned: “Did nobody advise Jesy Nelson in advance of appearing on Bake Off about what she'd actually be doing on the programme? The state of those talons!!”

Another penned: “Our thoughts are with Jesy Nelson’s manicurist at this tough time.”

While another wrote: “Those nails are an absolute hygiene nightmare,” and a fourth added: “how is Jesy going to get any baking done with nails like that?”

The celeb stars were tasked with putting together delicate macaroons confection and then asked to recreate their most embarrassing celebrity fail in the form of a meringue.

The celebrity special features a total of 20 well known faces in total, all battling it out to be star baker.

Amongst the line-up is Loose Women's Judi Love and Coleen Nolan, Olympian Tom Daley and reality icon Gemma Collins.

Also competing for the infamous Hollywood handshake, is Dragons' Den star Deborah Meaden, presenter AJ Odudu, The Repair Shop's Jay Blades, radio host Adele Roberts and Strictly's Ellie Taylor.
