The Chiefs captured their second Super Bowl title in four seasons Sunday night in a thrilling 38–35 victory in Super Bowl LVII.
Patrick Mahomes won his second Super Bowl MVP award to go along with his league MVP for the 2022 season, playing through the pain of a high ankle sprain to complete 21 of 27 passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns. He added 44 yards on the ground, included a couple crucial third-down scrambles on his hurt ankle to keep drives alive.
The victory for Mahomes and the Chiefs also cemented Andy Reid’s legacy as a Hall of Fame coach, as he captured his second Super Bowl title in Kansas City.
The championship victory sparked fireworks back home in Kansas City, where Chiefs fans celebrated into the wee hours of the morning. In fact, the fireworks, which reportedly boomed for well over an hour, were so extensive that they were captured by National Weather Service radar.
That’s one heck of a way to celebrate in Kansas City, with more partying to come at the Super Bowl parade later this week.
