KYOTO -- Those commuting to a welfare facility for people with disabilities in Fukuchiyama, Kyoto Prefecture, make corsages for those attending school graduations and entrance ceremonies in the spring. They used paper and wires to make the corsages of paper roses in red, pink and white. They first drew petals and leaves on pieces of paper, cut them out, then made them into roses. The handmade corsages are popular for being carefully made with attention to detail. One 61-year-old user makes the centers of roses using only his unparalyzed left hand. The facility is planning to send about 6,500 corsages to 84 destinations by the end of March as orders come from Tokyo, Fukuoka and many other places.
