Celebrated Lanarkshire sports bar raises a glass after winning prestigious award

A Lanarkshire sports bar is toasting its success after picking up a prestigious award.

McGoldrick’s Pool and Sports Bar in Rutherglen scooped Scotland’s Best Sports Bar at The Molson Coors Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards.

The ceremony took place at Doubletree Hilton, Glasgow, last Thursday.

The family-owned bar has been open for two years and has quickly become a popular part of the community.

It was named after Scottish Cuesports legend and family friend, Michael McGoldrick.

Paul and Natasha Corrigan, owners of McGoldrick’s, told Lanarkshire Live: “We have 10 UK pool tables, six American pool tables, two snooker tables and eight dart lanes.

"We have an event booked with Sky for 2023 which will be amazing for the area. Our streaming office and equipment for both local and national events allows amazing quality for viewers all around the world.

“Our kids’ academy has been extremely busy and it’s a part of the club that we will continue to support and build. Being family friendly is extremely important to us.

“We have had amazing support from our suppliers, customers, friends and family. They’ve all made the club what it is and we never take that for granted."

They added: “It was amazing to be on the shortlist and everything else after that was an extra bonus. We’ve been trading for two years and most of it was done through the Covid restrictions.

“Moving forward we always try to do better in all aspects of our business, we want to provide the best facility and customer service experience that we can.

“We also have plans to hopefully expand the premises in the future.”
