King Charles Coronation: Weird and wonderful food and drink launches to celebrate with

King Charles III's Coronation is a monumental occasion for the whole country – and for many it will be the first event of its type they will experience.

On the weekend of May 6, people will be celebrating up and down the country. There will be street parties and other huge events – while others may just be marking the occasion from home, maybe while tucking into a homemade Coronation Quiche.

In celebration of King Charles' Coronation, companies have started launching weird and wonderful food products for you to celebrate with. Some of these are keepsakes that you can cherish forever – while others are fun, themed edible items.

Here are some of the best limited-edition items we've seen so far. We will be keeping this list updated, so be sure to check back.

PizzaExpress' The King pizza

PizzaExpress is celebrating the historic Coronation of King Charles with a royal-themed addition to the menu, aptly named The King.

The special tribute is made on both Romana or Classic bases, and features a regal trio of toppings – pepperoni, n'duja and pancetta, sitting on top of a tomato and mozzarella base.

The King pizza will be available for a limited time only at restaurants up and down the UK, and via delivery for £16.95 for a limited time.

They also have a Coronation set menu, which will be available for £17.95 for PizzaExpress loyalty members, or £18.95 for non-members.

Diners can choose The King, or the iconic La Reine pizza, accompanied by either dough balls or garlic bread with mozzarella.

Pizza Hut is celebrating the Coronation in restaurants up and down the country with a cheesy twist.

For one weekend only they are bringing back their iconic Crown Crust Pizza, which is available exclusively at their famous lunchtime buffet.

The fan-favourite was first introduced for Queen Elizabeth's Diamond and Platinum Jubilees, and will be brought back for King Charles.

The Crown Crust Pizza has a regally shaped crust and is topped with Pizza Hut's finest triple blend cheese. It will be available on the Margherita and Pepperoni Pizzas on the buffet from May 6th – 8th.

Hellmann's Coronation mayonnaise

Much-loved brand Hellmann's has brought out a Coronation mayonnaise in honour of King Charles' Coronation.

The limited-edition mayo has the unmistakable creaminess of Hellmann's with fruity mango and curry powder, making it perfect for your celebratory spread.

The product is available to purchase in major retailers nationwide for a RRP (recommended retail price) of £2.59. It's also currently on offer in Morrison's for just £1.99.

Walkers' Sensations King Prawn Cocktail and Regal Lamb and Mint

Walkers has launched two limited-edition flavours to celebrate the Coronation, inspired by quintessential British classics.

The Sensations range includes King Prawn Cocktail and Regal Lamb Mint, which feature a striking regal themed design.

The new, exciting flavours, which come in a 150g share bag and 65g bag, are available until the end of the Coronation weekend.

M&S Coronation Chicken Crisps

M&S is known for its picky bits, and there's an exciting addition this spring – hand-cooked Coronation Chicken Crisps.

These limited-edition snacks have been launched in honour of King Charles' Coronation, and will be perfect for any picnic or at-home watching party.

The flavour-packed handcooked crisps are made with British potatoes, real chicken, dried mango and a delicious blend of spices, and are available in-store now.

Aldi's Mini Coronation Chicken Kievs, Coronation Chicken Pizza and Coronation Sandwiches

Aldi's new Coronation range consists of a host of delicious food and drinks which are perfect for impressing friends and family.

Standouts from the range include Coronation Chicken Pizza, Coronation Sandwiches and Mini Coronation Chicken Kievs.

You'll also find Coronation Cupcakes, Coronation Biscuits, Hog Roast Bites, Coronation Chicken Kebabs, Breaded Chicken Crowns and more.

Aldi's Coronation range is available in stores nationwide now.

Marmite in Coronation Jar

Marmite has had a quintessentially British makeover for the Coronation (Marmite)

If you're looking for a Coronation collectors edition, this Marmite could be just what you're looking for.

Trading its signature packaging for something a little more quintessentially British, whether you love it or hate it, you'll be desperate to get your hands on it just for the way it looks.

Marmite's Coronation Jar is available to shop now on Marmite's website for £7.99, but they recommend you shop quickly, as once it's gone, it's really gone.

M&S Coronation Colin the Caterpillar

Colin the Caterpillar has had a little makeover, and it's one that's fit for a King. Complete with a crown and some jewels, he's absolutely perfect to devour as part of your Coronation celebrations.

This caterpillar-shaped creamy chocolate sponge roll is filled with smooth chocolate buttercream and is covered in a milk chocolate shell. It has a decorative face, finished with a gold crown, and feet made of white chocolate.

He can be purchased in M&S, and on Ocado's website for £10.

Krispy Kreme's limited-edition Coronation donuts

If cupcakes aren't your thing, you can celebrate with Krispy Kreme's brand-new trio of donuts.

In honour of King Charles' Coronation, you'll be able to get your hands on Berry Bakewell, complete with almond Kreme.

You'll also find King's Trifle, which is the most indulgent of the trip, and Lemon Shortbread, which is topped with a vanilla frosting and shortcake biscuit pieces.

The trio will be available from May 1 to 8, available in shops or delivery through the Krispy Kreme website.

Cadbury's and Fry's limited edition Coronation bars

Iconic British brands Cadbury and Fry's are launching four limited edition collectable ranges to mark King Charles' coronation.

In honour of the occasion, Cadbury Dairy Milk, Bournville, Fry's Creams and Fry's Turkish Delight will receive Royal-inspired makeovers featuring special crown designs.

One of these is a limited edition 850g Dairy Milk Bar, which is the perfect addition to an at-home viewing party, which will retail at £9.99.

The limited edition bars are available online and in-store, while stocks last.

Tyrells Coronation chicken crisps

A party for a royal occasion wouldn't be the same without crisps, and luckily Tyrrells is relaunching its regal Coronation chicken flavour crisps to commemorate King Charles III.

The hand-cooked English crisps retail at £2.75, and will be hitting the shelves of Waitrose, Booths, Tesco, Asda, WHSmith Travel and BP from April 10.

As you'd expect, these signature hand-cooked crisps combine the flavour of a home roast chicken with a subtle kick of curry.

Sainsbury's Strawberries & Cream custard creams

As part of its new Coronation range, Sainsbury's has brought out a strawberries and cream flavour Custard Creams.

Described as 'Plain biscuits with a strawberry, cream and vanilla flavour filling,' it sounds like it would be perfect as a Coronation snack.

Costing just 60p for 16 servings, according to the Sainsbury's website, it's a very reasonably priced treat.

Chococo's Coronation collection

Chococo has created a new collection of ethical, handcrafted chocolate treats created exclusively for the King's Coronation.

The range includes a large box of Chococo's luxurious award-winning, handcrafted, freshly made chocolates, which includes flavours such as Champagne, Cream Tea, Dark Chocolate Truffle and Glorious Ginger. The box, which costs £26, comes specially designed with a commemorate wrap, featuring the Coronation logo.

The wonderfully regal Charles and Camilla the chocolate Coronation Chickens cost £9 each. While the King is made from 72% Ecuador origin dark chocolate and is dusted with edible copper shimmer, Camilla is made from 47% Colombia origin milk chocolate and is dusted with edible bronze shimmer.

Lastly, there's a hamper bag packed full of sumptuous goodies for £55, full of chocolate treats to enjoy over the Coronation weekend.

Some may argue that afternoon tea is the ultimate way to celebrate the King's Coronation.

If you're planning to have scones, why not use a jam which has been created especially for the occasion? Rosebud Preserves has created a limited-edition Damson Plum Jam using fruit from one orchard in the Lyth Valley, Cumbria.

The edition English Damson Jam is presented in a 175g Kilner jar, with labels taking inspiration from the two colours of the official Coronation logo. The background of the labels uses a soft blue to evoke spring and new beginnings.

You can purchase the tasty condiment, made from midnight-blue Damson plums, for £5.50 online at Rosebud Preserves' website.

Asda Coronation caterpillar cake

Asda is releasing a Coronation-themed caterpillar cake to celebrate the year's biggest royal occasion.

Priced at £7, the beloved caterpillar comes complete with a crown, purple robe, and patriotic sprinkles to set off the cake, filled with chocolate flavour buttercream. If you're looking for something more traditional, there's also the £12 Coronation Celebration Cake.

They will be available in-store and online from April 27 until May 18.

Buckingham Palace Coronation Dry Gin

Buckingham Palace Coronation Gin is distilled in England in small batches and is perfect to serve with tonic or in cocktails for any royal parties.

Morrisons customers can feel like royalty with a new crown-shaped pork pie. The Pork Pie Crown, which feed six, and at just £6.50 works out at £1 per head.

Weighing a whopping 800g, the pie is perfect for regal group feasts during the festivities.

The mouthwatering pie is filled with 100% British pork, encased in flaky, golden shortcrust pastry.

Customers can pick up The Pork Pie Crown in-store from Saturday April 29 at the deli counter on Market Street until May 8.

London-inspired special edition Hayman's gin

Hayman's has launched a limited-edition London-inspired wrap for their London Dry Gin, to coincide with the King's Coronation. The design, done by up-and-coming London artist, Rose England features London-iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, the black taxi, phone box, street lamp and a street sign.

Miranda Hayman, co-owner and fifth generation family member of Hayman's, said: "As the original London gin, it felt appropriate to create a giftable version of our London Dry Gin around the Coronation and also celebrate this incredible city we call home."

Royal fans will be able to pick up a giant coronation cookie, with a milk chocolate cookie base, vanilla icing and personalised message, for £32.50.

For those who want a smaller feast, there will be mini coronation cookies priced at £25.99 for a mix of milk, dark, and white choc Biscoff.

Pub company and brewer Greene King has launched a brand-new, limited edition ale for the occasion, named the Coronation Ale. It's a 4% golden ale, with citrus and tropical fruit notes.

The light, golden serve is available now until May 14 in six x 330ml bottles (£12) and 12 x 330ml bottles with a commemorative glass (£30) from the Greene King online store.

You'll also be able to raise a toast to the King with the new ale in a range of Greene King pubs and Hungry Horse sites across the UK. To find your nearest participating pub, you can head to the Greene King website.

The limited-edition sandwich pairs succulent king prawns with a coronation mayonnaise made with Bramley apples, sultanas, lime pickle and coriander layered with spinach, mango chutney and a kachumber style salad, all on soft nigella seed white bread.

That's not all. Fans of the Royals will no doubt want to get their hand on coronation-inspired merchandise – including a mug, coffee towel and tote bag.

When is King Charles III's Coronation?

King Charles' Coronation will take place on Saturday May 6, 2023. He will be crowned alongside his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, at Westminster Abbey in London.

There will also be an extra bank holiday across the UK on Monday, May 8.

There will be various other events across the country that weekend, including a special Coronation Concert on Sunday, May 7. This will be staged and broadcast live at Windsor Castle by the BBC.

Neighbours and communities are also invited to share food together at The Coronation Big Lunch on the same date. On the Monday, people are encouraged to take part in The Big Help Out.
