In the ongoing debate surrounding the NFL’s best receiver tandems, the Cowboys figure to be in the conversation in 2023 with CeeDee Lamb and offseason acquisition Brandin Cooks atop the depth chart.
Dallas’s organized team activities and mandatory minicamp, a stretch that lasted from May 22 to June 8, gave the team, and notably its two top wideouts, a chance to begin building chemistry ahead of training camp. And, according to Lamb, the pair’s budding relationship has already gotten off to a great start.
The two-time Pro Bowler recently lofted glowing praise toward his new teammates while discussing the impact of practicing alongside Cooks, who was traded from the Texans in March.
“I’m a visual learner and I’m just watching him as he runs his routes, the way he preps, the way he practices, how he goes about his business. I love each and every part of it,” Lamb said, via ESPN. “I mean, he’s a professional to a ‘T’. My coach told me bringing him in will be the best thing for me and it is.”
According to ESPN, Lamb has taken his observation of Cooks’s habits a step further, with the 24-year-old reportedly picking up “small tricks of the trade” from the 10-year veteran to add to his game entering his fourth NFL season.
A 1,000-yard receiver six times in his career, Cooks already appears to have a strong locker room supporter in Lamb, which could play huge dividends for a receiving corps that also includes wideout Michael Gallup.
Needless to say, if Cooks and Lamb’s chemistry helps them find ways to consistently roast defenders this fall, there’s no telling what Dallas’s offense could achieve entering another season filled with expectations.
