Cedric Soares impressed by Arsenal’s new signings and is ready to battle for his spot

Cedric Soares has been impressed with how Arsenal’s new signings are settling in and is ready to help continue the club’s fine pre-season form into the Premier League season.

The Gunners won all five of their warm-up matches, scoring 20 goals across five matches, with 10 of those coming against top level opponents in Chelsea and Sevilla. New striker Gabriel Jesus contributed seven goals and laid on one assist.

With Takehiro Tomiyasu still injured, Cedric battled with Ben White for a spot on the right side of Arteta’s defence. After playing 180 minutes and registering two assists, the Portugal international spoke of his prospects for the upcoming season.

“The pre-season has been very positive and we had an excellent USA Tour,” Cedric told Standard Sport. “The new players are connecting really well with the rest of the team and the squad is becoming a strong unit.

“Personally, I am very motivated after these last few games and I feel ready to help the team achieve their goals for this season."

Arsenal kick-off the Premier League season with a trip to Selhurst Park on Friday night, with matches against Leicester City, Bournemouth, Fulham, Aston Villa and Manchester United to follow.
