The headquarters of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) was filled with cheers and applause as the exit polls were revealed, indicating that the opposition party was poised to become the largest group following Sunday's election. Younger party members at the CDU's election party in Berlin were seen clapping and chanting as the party seemed to have secured its position as the strongest force in the upcoming German parliament.

The CDU's headquarters, known as the Konrad Adenauer Haus, was bustling with party leaders and journalists from various parts of the world. The CDU had been the frontrunners to secure the largest share of the vote.

Outside the building, a small group of protesters gathered to demonstrate against what they perceived as party leader Friedrich Merz's tough stance on immigration. The protesters held signs with flames drawn on them, accusing the CDU of potential collaboration with the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD). Merz, however, has refuted any claims of intending to cooperate with the AfD.
