A man has been left with a fractured cheekbone after being assaulted by a stranger on a train heading for Manchester. British Transport Police (BTP) says the 57-year-old also suffered bruising to his face on the service from Liverpool Lime Street to Victoria.
Detectives have today (May 3) released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to following the attack, which took place on the 9.51pm service last Thursday, March 30. BTP says the attack took place before the train stopped at the Lea Green station, in St Helens, where the offender left.
Anyone who recognises the man in the image or has information on the attack is urged to come forward. A spokesperson for BTP said: "Officers are releasing a CCTV image following an assault on a train between Liverpool Lime Street and Lea Green railway stations.
