Officers are hunting a man who asked a rail passenger to sit near him before sexually assaulting him. British Transport Police (BTP) has today (February 6) released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.
The force says the victim was asked to sit on a table seat by the offender after the pair boarded a train at Manchester Piccadilly, at around 10.30pm last December 1. The victim was then sexually assaulted during the journey, before the offender left at Stalybridge station.
BTP detectives hope the man in the image could have information to help the investigation. Anyone who recognises him or has information about the incident is being urged to come forward.
A spokesperson for BTP said: "Do you recognise this man? Detectives investigating a sexual assault on a train from Manchester to Stalybridge are today releasing this image in connection.
