CCTV catches boozy yob in Scots bar stealing Champions League replica trophy after final match

A drunken yob was caught on CCTV stealing a replica Champions League trophy from a Scots pub.

The silver hardware was pinched from OGV Taproom on Bridge Place in Aberdeen on Saturday night as punters gathered to watch the final.

The trophy belonged to the Aberdeen Official Liverpool Supporters Club, who brought it along to raise cash for charity by allowing revellers to get their picture taken with it as they watched the match.

CCTV taken on the night shows a man carrying the trophy out of the premises.

In the CCTV footage, the man wearing a dark blue jumper or jacket, is seen taking the cup down the stairs behind three women.

He then proceeds to walk out onto the street and down the road with the trophy.

The replica had red ribbons tied at either side and the supporters club have asked anyone with information to get in touch.

Greig Robertson, of the Liverpool Supporters Club, told the Record: "We had the Champions League trophy on display for everyone to get their photos taken with it.

"We asked everyone to donate £1 to do so and the money was getting split between our two chosen charities, Macmillan and Dementia Scotland.

"The night was going amazing, everyone loving posing with the trophy and the atmosphere was brilliant throughout out the night.

"At full-time I was seeing people out and making sure they enjoyed the evening.

"I had collected the money from the charity bucket to take home that evening and the next day I was coming back to collect our trophy, flags and other belongings.

"When returning to OGV it became apparent that the trophy wasn't there. I first thought someone had moved to a safe place but after searching everywhere I soon realised that it had actually been stolen.

"I am still so angry and upset about this as the chosen charities are close to mine and a few other committee members hearts."

The supporters club paid £880 for the trophy back in 2019.

Greig added: "If anyone knows who has this please do the decent thing and get them to return it."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.50pm on Tuesday, 31 May, police received a report of a theft from premises in Bridge Place, Aberdeen. Officers will speak to the reporter to gather more detail."
