CCTV captures moment brazen crook tries to batter down door at Ayr hub

Bosses at a social enterprise have "had enough" after another attempted break-in at their High Street premises.

Tsukure Hub was targeted yet again by a brazen crook who rattled front doors before trying to kick their way into the Ayr venue which hosts a community café, radio station and events space.

Shocking CCTV footage shows the young man try to batter down the entrance at around 4.30am on Saturday morning.

The man first knocks on the window before starting his attack as he desperately tries to gain entry.

The suspect wearing a hooded jacket then tries to unlock a padlock holding the door together but after several attempts fails and walks away.

Adam Short, co-founder of Tsukure Hub, says he has had enough of attacks on the social enterprise which was started in 2019.

Last year new windows were left damaged after vandals targeted the Hub.

Adam told Ayrshire Live: “The door is completely battered, I don’t even know what else to say about it.

“The whole frame is twisted, its an aluminium frame.

“These costly attempted break-ins keep happening, we have had enough.

“I have three citations for me to be a witness for things that have happened down here, it is becoming a full time job becoming a witness or reporting things to the police.”

Sergeant Roy Williams, from Ayr Police station, said: “We can confirm that enquiries are ongoing following the reported attempted break-in to a premises on High Street, Ayr, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, 12 March.

“Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident 0976 of March 12."
