UPDATE: A man has now been arrested.
Detectives have released an image of man they would like to speak to after a woman was raped in an Oldham alleyway after a night out. At around 1.30am last October 31, officers were called out to a report of a rape at the side of Royton Cricket Club.
Greater Manchester Police says the woman had walked into the alleyway and was raped by a male who made off from the scene afterwards. Detectives immediately launched an investigation and have been following up a number of lines of enquiry since.
Now, GMP says it is in a position to appeal to members of the public for further information about the attack. The force has today (May 19) released a CCTV image, with anyone who recognises the man in the photo urged to get in touch.

Det Con Kate Dawson, from GMP’s Oldham CID, said: “This was a horrific attack on a woman who had enjoyed a night out with friends before she was raped in an alleyway. This terrifying attack has left a woman understandably extremely shook up.
"No woman should ever have such a traumatic incident as this happen to them after a night out and we want to bring whoever was responsible to justice. The investigation has remained ongoing since the incident and following a number of lines of enquiry including CCTV and forensic tests, we’re now in a position to appeal to the public and ask anyone who recognises the male pictured to get in touch."
Anyone who recognises the man in the image is asked to call 0161 856 8891, quoting log number 1820 of October 31, 2021, or report it online or via LiveChat at the GMP website.
