CCTV appeal after man seriously injured in attack on 'very busy' street

Police have issued a CCTV appeal after a man was attacked on a 'very busy' street in Oldham.

The attack happened on Union Street at around 4.20am on Saturday morning (June 10), police said. A man - aged in his 20s - is believed to have been attacked by two other men.

He was left with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. The two suspects are believed to have been around the Waterloo Street area before the assault and were seen running in the direction of Horsedge Street afterwards.

Officers believe the men in the CCTV image 'may be able to help with their enquiries'. One was wearing dark clothes with a long coat, a balaclava, blue surgical gloves and dark trainers.

The other was wearing a grey hoodie with dark trousers and dark trainers. Anyone who recognises them, or who witnessed the incident - which happened between 4.18am and 4.24am - is being urged to get in touch.

Detective Constable Collier, of GMPs Oldham district, said: "This incident has left a man with serious injuries, and we need to locate the people who have done this. At this time in the morning the area was very busy, so we are hopeful that someone will have noticed any unusual behaviour or witnessed the males running near the scene.

"Of the two males we would like to speak to, one was wearing dark clothing with a long coat, balaclava, blue surgical gloves, and dark trainers. The other was wearing a grey hoodie, dark trousers, and dark trainers."

Anyone with information - or CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage - is asked to contact police on 0161 856 8999 or 101, quoting log 570 of the 10/06/2023. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
