One of the Minnesota Vikings’ top priorities this offseason is to get younger and faster on defense. This is even more important with the Vikings’ hiring of defensive coordinator Brian Flores, whose scheme requires versatility, speed, and physicality.
Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports helped out the Vikings and Flores in his latest mock draft by selecting Alabama safety Brian Branch.
“The top safety in the class goes to a Vikings team that desperately needs secondary help. New defensive coordinator Brian Flores should love all the tools that Branch brings to the table. He’s physical, has good ball skills and can blitz off the edge.”
Branch is an unreal prospect and is highly touted by draft experts. The unfortunate part is that he doesn’t play a premium position. He brings with him an incredible array of skills such as speed, recognition, and awareness.
If the Vikings do go this route and draft Branch, they’d pair him up with Lewis Cine and have a dynamic duo for the next half decade.
