The Baltimore Ravens are in the middle of a standoff with quarterback Lamar Jackson in what has been a major storyline of the 2023 offseason throughout the NFL. There are many ways the situation could end, but for now the two sides continue to be locked in a stalemate.
When looking at possible but unexpected scenarios, Josh Edwards of CBS Sports said that the Ravens could trade Jackson on draft night. His explanation includes the thought that although it’s unknown who currently has interest in Jackson, questions would pop up for Baltimore in the event of a draft night trade of the star, including if they’d use their newly-acquired draft capital on a first-round quarterback.
“It is unknown who, if anyone, has interest in acquiring the quarterback. If he were to be traded, the trade would presumably include a first-round pick and that throws a wrench into Day 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft. Would Baltimore use its newfound draft capital to select a quarterback? It may not have a dramatic impact on how the actual draft plays out but it would certainly create a stir.”
