CBS Sports names logical landing spots for Ravens QB Lamar Jackson in potential trade

The Baltimore Ravens still have not been able to reach a resolution with quarterback Lamar Jackson, as the two sides are still at an impasse in negotiations on a long-term extension. The team hasn’t done much in the 2023 offseason outside of re-signing some of their own players, and until a resolution is reached they are limited in what they can do.

When listing out logical landing spots for Jackson in a potential trade, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports named four possible teams where the signal caller could fit in. He mentions the Indianapolis Colts, the Atlanta Falcons, the Detroit Lions, and the Tennessee Titans.

“No matter their mutual attraction from months past, Jackson and the Ravens are on shaky ground as the QB navigates free agency under the non-exclusive franchise tag. It’s possible Baltimore could let the former MVP walk if another team actually makes Jackson an offer, receiving two first-rounders in return. But it’s perhaps even more likely the Ravens would seek to move Jackson via a traditional trade; in that case, offers would likely begin at two first-rounders. Losing such an electric, if recently fragile, athlete would be a major blow to the franchise, but it’d save the Ravens at least $32.4 million in 2023, and depending on the return haul, potentially set the team up to reset at QB right away.”

Jackson’s situation feels like it will linger, and in the event of an actual trade it wouldn’t be shocking to see Baltimore get as much, if not more, for the star quarterback than the Seattle Seahawks did for Russell Wilson. However, if a team signs Jackson to an offer sheet due to the non-exclusive franchise tag, he could walk for two first-round picks, which would seem like an underwhelming return.
