The MVP of the 2024 NFL season has yet to be revealed but it surely won’t go to anybody from the Atlanta Falcons. The award generally goes to the best quarterback on a playoff contender. The Falcons played two quarterbacks this season and didn’t qualify for the playoffs.
Most expect this year’s MVP to go to Lamar Jackson of the Ravens or Josh Allen of the Bills. But what if every team was awarded an MVP for each season?
CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan did just that, highlighting the most valuable player from each team in 2024. Unsurprisingly, running back Bijan Robinson was listed as the Falcons’ regular-season MVP.
Robinson finished third in the NFL with 1,456 rushing yards and was named a Pro Bowl replacement for Eagles RB Saquon Barkley. Considering the Falcons changed quarterbacks in Week 16, Robinson was the obvious choice:
The Falcons drafted Robinson with the No. 8 overall pick in what was considered a somewhat controversial move at the time. Tyler Allgeier had just rushed for 1,000 yards and the team had major questions at quarterback.
While the move didn’t pan out at first — Arthur Smith was fired following the 2023 season — Robinson established himself as one of the top running backs in the league in 2024.
With Michael Penix Jr. solidifying the quarterback position, the Falcons offense is expected to take off in 2025. Drake London is coming off his first 1,000-yard season and the offensive line is in great shape.
Defensively, the Falcons still have some work to do. The team just hired Jeff Ulbrich as its new defensive coordinator. Check out Atlanta’s top free agents on offense and defense as we approach the 2025 offseason.
