New Delhi: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested former CMD of Water and Power Consultancy Services (India Ltd) Rajinder Kumar Gupta and his son Gaurav Singal in connection with a case related to allegedly possessing disproportionate assets, CBI spokesperson said on Wednesday.
During searches conducted at around 19 locations so far, cash of Rs 38.38 crore, FDRs, keys of bank Lockers and details of accounts in various banks were recovered from the premises of the accused, CBI said in a statement.
A case was registered against former CMD, WAPCOS and his family members on the allegations that the accused during the tenure from April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2019 had possessed disproportionate assets way beyond his known sources of income, it said.
On Tuesday, searches were conducted at around 19 locations across Delhi, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Sonipat and Ghaziabad at the premises of the accused. The probe is underway.
It was alleged that the accused after retiring from the service had started a consultancy business in the name of a private company based at Delhi. The alleged immovable properties belonging to the accused include flats, commercial properties and a farmhouse spread across Delhi, Gurugram, Panchkula Sonipat and Chandigarh, CBI statement said.
