Trae Young has very clearly established himself as a player who thrives off of negativity. This energy inspires him. It pushes him. Motivates him. Makes him better.
We found that out during last season’s playoffs when Young trolled the Knicks into oblivion during the Hawks’ playoff run last season. Knicks fans tried to humble him with different chants and boos and everything you can think of in the book. They were quickly humbled themselves by the NBA’s premier villain.
Clearly, Cavaliers fans learned nothing from the folly of Knicks fans.
Because when Trae Young stepped to the free-throw line with a chance to give the Hawks a lead heading into the 4th quarter, they busted out in an [expletive] Trae Young chant.

For no real reason, by the way. He was just cooking their team with 16 points and 5 assists in the 3rd quarter. That makes this even more confounding, honestly.
But, anyway, they did it. So Young then proceeded to drop 18 more points in the 4th quarter which was more than Cleveland scored as an entire team. And he did it with flatout disrespectful stuff like this.
TRAE YOUNG MY GOODNESS.

WHEW. Then, when it was all said and done, he actually waved goodbye to the crowd to give them some of that energy back.
Cleveland stood up to give their team a standing ovation sendoff after a great season and Trae waved them goodbye. the villain we need. pic.twitter.com/OL8CL2DPDV

Listen, man. That is rude. It is. But Cavs fans were also asking for this. This is what they wanted and Trae Young gave it to them.
It’s not like we didn’t all see this coming as soon as we heard those chants. We saw what he did to the Knicks. Of course, he was about to give the Cavaliers the business.
Everyone knew that. Literally. Everyone really saw this coming.
