Cavaliers' Evan Mobley To Miss One Week With Ankle Sprain

Evan Mobley sidelined for at least a week with sprained ankle.

Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Evan Mobley is set to sit out for a minimum of one week due to a sprained left ankle. The injury was confirmed following tests conducted in Cleveland on Wednesday, revealing that Mobley sustained the sprain during the third quarter of the Cavaliers' recent 105-104 victory over the Boston Celtics at home on Tuesday night. The team has announced that Mobley's condition will be reassessed in approximately one week.

Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff mentioned prior to Wednesday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks that Mobley's ankle is currently sensitive. Bickerstaff expressed uncertainty about the timeline for Mobley's recovery, stating, 'We'll see how it goes.' Standing at 6 feet 11 inches, Mobley has been contributing an average of 15.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

In Mobley's absence, forward Georges Niang was given the opportunity to make his second start of the season in the game against the Hawks. The Cavaliers were also missing All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell, who is sidelined due to a left knee bone bruise, and guard Max Strus, who is out with a right knee strain, in the matchup against Atlanta.
