Catherine Tyldesley looks unrecognisable in epic throwback from the early 2000s

Coronation Street fans were given a shock when show star Catherine Tyldesley shared an epic throwback photo of herself as a teenager.

Fans of the soap star would be forgiven for needing to take a long look at the fresh faced star looking up at them from the snap dating from the early 2000s.

Former Corrie babe Cath is well known for her glamorous looks on the red carpet these days, but showcased the grounded style she used to enjoy in her youth with her old photo.

The now 37-year-old poked fun at the ‘attitude’ emitting from the throwback image, which she shared after explaining her mother had discovered it.

Uploading the old snap to Instagram, Catherine wrote: “So my mum found this!” along with a string of crying-with-laughter emojis.

She continued: “A very young me! I did this shoot just after losing a lot of weight. No make up, no eyebrows (dear God!) ...and clearly VERY hormonal.

“I remember asking the photographer if we could put ‘Pretty Green Eyes’ on as that track was massive at the time! Who remembers that?! What a tune!”

The glamorous star added: “Omg! I bloody loved those wedges!!” and the hashtag: “#chavtastic”.

Cathy’s throwback snap amused followers who flooded her comments sections with humours reactions.

One wrote: “This is gold” along with laughing and heart eyed emojis.

While another declared they had: “So much love for this.”

Catherine is still known to millions as Eva Price from Coronation Street.

The star played the barmaid for seven years across 2011 to 2018 – bowing out of the show almost three years ago with her character departing the Cobbles for a life in France.

Explaining her reason for leaving the soap after seven years, the mum-of-one said: “Coronation Street has been a dream job for me which is why this was such a difficult decision to leave.

“Eva has been such fun to play over the last seven years, and who knows, one day she might storm the cobbles of Weatherfield again.

“In the meantime I'm excited about the future, new acting projects, and spending time with my family.”
