Catherine Tyldesley defends calling herself 'fat' before epic 6 stone transformation

Catherine Tyldesley has hit back at fans after she faced backlash for dubbing herself 'fat and greedy'.

The former Coronation Street star, 36, rubbed her followers up the wrong way when she criticised herself before her epic six stone weight transformation.

In a bid to remind herself to stay on the right track, Catherine has kept a cardboard cutout of her former appearance.

The actress drew criticism for describing the image as “fat Cath” as she unearthed the cutout from her garage.

Taking to Instagram to share the video of herself showing the throwback photo of her former self to her five-year old son, Alfie, Cath quipped: "I found fat Cath!".

This didn't go down well with unimpressed fans who slated the Corrie star for being 'irresponsible'.

"How irresponsible of you to call yourself fat in front of your son" raged one follower.

While another fumed: "Pretty sad that you're calling your former self fat when that's someone else's dream body. Do better Cath".

Now, Catherine has defended herself by telling her unimpressed admirers to get down off their 'high horses'.

The brunette beauty explained why she gave herself the seemingly offensive nickname.

Taking to Instagram, she penned: "To anyone jumping on a high horse - I’m calling myself ‘fat’ because I was.

"I was greedy. I ate junk. And I was so unhealthy.

The TV star insisted that she loves her curves, but added that she wasn't going to beat around the bush about her weight.

Catherine explained: "Curves are beautiful. I love mine. But there’s no skirting around the fact that At this point in MY life, I considered myself ‘fat’."

When she was growing into her teenage years, the telly star wore a size 22.

Now, she's happier and more confident than ever as her dress size has fallen to an 8-10.

In the past 10 years, Catherine has dropped a whopping six stone, and has credited a change in lifestyle for her dramatic new look.

Now, most of the ex-Coronation Street star’s meals are plant-based – and she has never felt or looked better.

Catherine's whole perspective on her diet and lifestyle changed when she had son Alfie, 5.

"Since I have had Alfie things are no longer about weight-loss, it is just about being on the planet for as long as possible,” she told The Sun recently.

"When you are busy working mum you can’t afford to get poorly. Children are unforgiving like that.

"I love being busy and making the most of life. I feel like to do that I have to fuel my body correctly – you wouldn’t put petrol in a diesel car".

Her personal trainer husband, Tom Pitfield, has also made her look at health in a completely different way.
