Catherine McCormack joins the cast of 'Lockerbie' alongside Colin Firth.

Catherine McCormack has been announced as the latest addition to the cast of the upcoming limited series 'Lockerbie,' which will delve into the tragic events of the 1988 flight disaster that claimed the lives of 259 passengers and crew members. The series, produced by Sky and Peacock, will see McCormack starring alongside Colin Firth, who will portray Dr. Jim Swire, husband of Jane Swire, played by McCormack.

The storyline of 'Lockerbie' revolves around the Swire family's heartbreaking loss of their daughter, Flora, in the terrorist attack on Pan Am Flight 103. Dr. Jim Swire emerges as the spokesperson for U.K. victims' families, leading a relentless pursuit for truth and justice in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Joining Firth and McCormack in the cast are Sam Troughton as Murray Guthrie, Mark Bonnar as Roderick McGill, Andy Nyman as Edwin Bollier, Ardalan Esmaili as Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, and Selwa Jghalef as Aisha. The series promises an intimate portrayal of Dr. Swire's unwavering dedication to seeking justice for his daughter and the other victims of the Lockerbie bombing.

'Lockerbie' is based on the book 'The Lockerbie Bombing: A Father's Search for Justice' by Jim Swire and Peter Biddulph. The production is a collaboration between Carnival Films, a part of Universal International Studios, and Sky Studios. The series features acclaimed playwright David Harrower as lead writer, with Maryam Hamidi contributing as a guest writer for an episode.

Directed by Otto Bathurst and Jim Loach, 'Lockerbie' has commenced production, with a stellar lineup of executive producers including Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant, and Sam Hoyle. The series will be available for viewing on Sky and NOW in select European countries, as well as on Peacock in the United States. International distribution will be handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
