Catastrophe's Sharon Horgan divorces TV producer husband after 14 years

Catastrophe star Sharon Horgan is divorcing her husband Jeremy Rainbird.

The writer, who is also behind popular BBC Three series Pulling, is known for using the worst bits of her own life to inspire her work and now it's a case of life imitating her art.

News of their split comes after the successful actress and director's hit HBO show Divorce enters its third season.

Her real-life divorce will be finalised in early 2020.

Sharon, 49, who shares two daughters Sadhbh, 15, and Amer, 10, with Jeremy, 45, remain best friends, co-parents and business partners.

Jeremy told the Sunday Times : "She is a great mum and a great business partner. And I love her dearly, but at some point in the next three to four months [the divorce] will be finalised."

The couple met 14 years ago and six months later Sharon fell pregnant - the experience she famously based her Emmy-nominated Channel 4 series Catastrophe on.

Her series Pulling was also said to be loosely based on her single life, while another series Motherland also draw from her life.

Entrepreneur Jeremy, who is a managing partner in his wife's production company Merman and also runs a property development company, said that he's proud of Sharon for "drawing from life" and that they are "genuinely mates".

American series Divorce, which stars Sarah Jessica Parker, follows main character Frances Dufresne, starting divorce proceedings with her husband.

Show creator Sharon told the New Yorker when it came out back in 2016: "If it wasn't so hard to get a divorce, I would get a divorce."

Jeremy said that the couple remain dedicated to co-parenting their children.
