Casualty fans horrified as legend Charlie exits after declaring the NHS is 'all knackered'

Casualty viewers were left horrified this evening as legend Charlie Fairclough quit working at the hospital - after declaring that the NHS is "all knackered.

Charlie, played by Derek Thompson, has been left struggling ever since the death of his wife Duffy.

But tonight saw him reach breaking point as he made a number of mistakes and walk away from Holby City.

After making a major mistake by not recording that a patient had a Do Not Resuscitate order in place, which was revealed after the team had managed to resuscitate her.

While Charlie understood that he'd made a grave error, he lashed out at everyone around him, from Jacob and Fletch to the NHS.

He then shoved all of his belongings into a box and walked out, Robyn told him that he "couldn't just leave".

"Why not?" he replied. "There's nothing for me here now."

Once he got outside, he shoved all of his belongings in the bin and walked off.

Devastated fans flocked to Twitter to comment, with one tweeting: "Ah here as if things weren’t bad enough, Charlie has walked out on Casualty! F*** meeee #Covid_19 #Casualty."

While another commented: "#Charlie leaves, and throws all his possessions over the years in the bin! #CharlieQuits #Casualty."

A third remarked: "Did Charlie really just walk away from #Casualty."

"Charlie Fairhead has just quit, now we are proper f***ed. #Casualty," another wrote.

Another commented: "Oh no Charlie has quit and the corona pandemic has landed. We're screwed. #Casualty."

"#Casualty won't be the same now Charlie has left," one tweeted.
