Castle Douglas gift shop owner makes MasterChef progress

A Castle Douglas gift shop owner made it through to the knock-out stages of TV’s MasterChef.

Endang Telfer progressed from the quarter-finals after impressing judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace in Friday night’s episode.

The mum-of-two was in action again on Tuesday night and was one of five chefs who progressed.

They were then given their first experience of working in a professional kitchen under the watchful eye of Peter Sanchez-Iglesias at Decimo in London’s King’s Cross.

Endang, who is 51, was born in Balikpapan in East Borneo, Indonesia, and has lived in Scotland since 2000.

She’ll next feature on MasterChef on Friday night when knock-out week comes to an end and she bids to become a semi-finalist.

Find out if she makes it at 8.30pm on BBC One.
