Castle Douglas’ Civic Week’s celebrations finished with a bang rather than a damp squib on Saturday.
Crowds turned out to enjoy the Douglas Day parade down King Street despite the heavy rain.
And then they headed to Lochside Park to enjoy live music, proceedings coming to a close in the evening with a spectacular fireworks display.
The week long programme also included a treasure hunt, fun runs and football tournament.
This year’s Douglas Lad and Lass were Rory Telfer and Chloe Pickthall.
Gillian Warden from Castle Douglas Civic Events said: “Saturday wasn’t the best of weather but it still went very well.
“It was well supported and a lot of the events during the week were up in numbers.
“I think by the time the last band came on in the park there weren’t many folk left and most people watched the fireworks from their cars but they still came out to support us.
“It’s just a shame with the weather – it was the same for the Scottish night at the start of the week which was a new event.”
