The new salmon fishing season opened on the stretch of the River Urr controlled by Castle Douglas and District Angling Association on Saturday.
A small opening day ceremony was held down at the hut on the Waterside beat at which a plaque in memory of the late Tam McGuire was unveiled.
After the unveiling, Wull Shennan, watched by some members of the association and the McGuire family, blessed the river and the salmon gods with a splash of the water of life before making the first official casts of the new season.
