Cast Of Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender Bond Over Naps On Set

Netflix

In the world of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender,' the young cast members found a unique bonding experience on set. Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, and Ian Ousley, who play Aang, Katara, and Sokka, respectively, shared how they formed a close connection by napping on Appa, Aang's sky bison, during breaks in filming. Their playful antics of trying to secure more space on the furry creature led to laughter and camaraderie.

During the premiere of Netflix's adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon show, the cast members, including Dallas Liu, Ken Leung, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, and Daniel Dae Kim, gathered at The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood. The series follows Aang, the Avatar, as he embarks on a quest to restore balance to a world threatened by the Fire Nation, alongside his friends Sokka and Katara.

Ousley, who plays Sokka, revealed a behind-the-scenes prank he would play on Kiawentiio's Katara by trying to make her laugh during serious scenes. The cast and showrunner Albert Kim reassured fans about the new show's faithfulness to the original series, despite the departure of the original creators.

Kim expressed his dedication to honoring the fans' expectations and hopes for the show. He drew inspiration from the original series, as well as its sequel, 'The Legend of Korra,' and various comic books. The show aims to capture the essence of the beloved world created by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino.

Netflix's 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' is set to premiere on Feb. 22, inviting fans to immerse themselves in a new live-action adaptation of the iconic animated series.
