Casper Tengstedt transfer fee revealed as Celtic linked star heads to Champions League big boys

Rosenborg striker Casper Tengstedt is set to get his big move with Benfica closing in on a £8.3m swoop.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a stunning season so far with 15 goals and nine assists in 14 appearances and he was linked with a move to Celtic, who are in the market for a new striker after Record Sport revealed contract talks broke down with Giorgos Giakoumakis. Ange Postecoglou appeared to be eyeing Tengstedt as one potential replacement with South Korean Cho Gue-sung another option up front.

But it now seems Tengstedt is off the table as reports in Portugal and Norway say a move to Benfica is imminent. They are set to land him for 100million Norwegian Krone - which would be the equivalent of £8.3m. Having just joined Rosenborg in the summer for a fee in the region of £1m, they are expected to shatter their outgoing transfer record which currently stands at £7.5m for the deal that took John Carew to Valencia in 2001.

The news comes as Benfica appear to have shut down Chelsea's pursuit of Enzo Fernandez. Record Sport first broke the news that the Stamford Bridge side were set to blow Liverpool and Manchester United out of the water for the Argentina midfielder, but they've been left furious with the Blues who lodged a "disrespectful" bid.

Manager Roger Schmidt now says a deal is off the table meaning Fernandez will be there to welcome new teammate Tengstedt once the deal is complete. He said: "The Enzo story is closed, there's nothing left. He's our player.

"He's in a good position, Enzo is happy, training well, he's part of the team. He's a key player. That's all."
