Cash and jewellery stolen during Renfrew break-in as police launch probe

Police are investigating another break-in in Renfrewshire – which saw hundreds of pounds worth of goods stolen.

The Paisley Daily Express understands that cash and jewellery was stolen from the property on Fairfield Drive, Renfrew on Friday, October 28.

It is thought that there were three men involved in the incident and that they may have been driving a white BMW in the area around 8pm.

The matter was later reported to police around 10.25pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “An investigation has been launched following a break-in at a house in Fairfield Drive. The matter was reported to police around 10.25pm on October 28 and enquiries are ongoing.”

It comes after police in Renfrewshire last month launched their Dark Nights campaign – warning residents of the dangers of thieves breaking into properties which can be detected as being vacant.

Just last week, the Paisley Daily Express reported on a housebreaking spree allegedly conducted by two men, aged 18 and 22, on Saturday, October 22.

The pair were said to have raided at least six properties between Alexandra Drive and Riccartsbar Avenue.

Earlier that month, on Saturday, October 1, three men dressed all in black were seen prowling Cunningham Gardens, Houston, where homes currently cost more than £500,000.

However, the would-be thieves were unable to gain access. Police who attended the scene discovered damage to a property where they had tried to get in.

And the day before that, a 69-year-old woman was robbed while within her own home in Glamis Avenue, Elderslie.

The pensioner was within her home address when two men wearing balaclavas broke into the property around 1.15pm.

The thieves ransacked the house and stole property worth thousands of pounds.
