Looking back on this week in court, one of the biggest cases to be dealt with involved the terrible killing of a grandfather who was stabbed by his youngester daughter. Ann Dixon , 49, of Moorbridge Lane, Stapleford, had walked into Ray Dixon's bedroom and stabbed him in the chest and twice in the back.
Brave Ray, who was 77 when he died, was able to call an ambulance and told the operator he needed help and, "my daughter has stabbed me". Ray tragically died, and Dixon, who has paranoid schizophrenia and believes "the devil" instructed her to kill him, went on to plead guilty to his manslaughter by diminished responsibility on Wednesday, April 20.
She was sentenced by Judge Gregory Dickinson QC, the Recorder of Nottingham, on Thursday, April 21, to a hospital order without limit of time. Read the full story here.

Also at Nottingham Crown Court this week was defendant Kyle Bradley who admitted a series of offending over the course of two years after he went off the rails. The 24-year-old, of Beauvale Crescent, Hucknall, caused serious injury by dangerous driving to one woman.
The court had heard a Volkswagen Golf, driven by Bradley and speeding at 70mph and 90mph, had hit the Ford Focus she was a passenger in on October 30, 2019, in Watnall Road, Hucknall. The driver of the Ford had described how his car "exploded into pieces".
Bradley was additionally sentenced for the theft of a bicycle from a 17-year-old on September 21, 2018, in Broomhill Road, Bulwell, and for dangerous driving and drug driving on February 15, 2020, in Hucknall, as well as for having no insurance or licence and for possessing four wraps of cocaine.
Bradley also admitted supplying cannabis and possessing cannabis with intent to supply after nearly 57 grams of cannabis were found in street deals in May 2020, and two mobile phones held evidence of cannabis supply. His total prison sentence was three-and-a-half years, and a driving ban. Read the full story here.
Daughter stabbed dad after family row
Another case covered by Nottinghamshire Live involved carer Millie Hendren, 20, of Albert Avenue, Stapleford, who stabbed dad Steven Hendren in Newark on August 4, 2020. She pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm.
When she appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, April 20, she received a four-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and 15 rehabilitation activity days. Read the full story here.
