Few Manchester United fans could forget the sight of Casemiro being unveiled on the Old Trafford turf before shaking hands with Red Devils legend Roy Keane.
The image of the club's new £60million, five-time Champions League-winning signing keen to introduce himself to a United icon will live long in the memory of all who witnessed it, but the pair clearly don't agree when it comes to some of the current Red Devils crop.
Keane has long been a vocal critic of fellow midfielder Fred and has regularly suggested that the Brazilian is not of the required level to play for a club the size and stature of United. As recently as the opening day of this season, the Irishman took aim at the former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder once again.
"The decision-making and the football intelligence, in particular from Fred – and I've said this for a long time – Fred and [Scott] McTominay are not good enough," Keane bemoaned. "They won't get Manchester United back competing at the top. We see it week in, week out. [They are] not up to it."
That couldn't be further from the viewpoint of Casemiro, who lined up alongside Fred before joining Man United together in the heart of the Brazil midfield.
While discussing his special relationship with Fred in an interview with United's club website, Casemiro said: "Well, Fred has a lot of qualities. I think he's a player that has good movement.

"He's very mobile, passes the ball well, he has a good shot on him, he can play with both feet, left or right, he can pass the ball well with either foot. He's a great player.
"Again, that's why he plays for Brazil and he's a very important player at this club and I think he'll help me a great deal as he's Brazilian. I think he'll help me a lot at the club and without a doubt, it's important for me to have another Brazilian here, too."
Returning to those comments four months later with the benefit of having seen Casemiro and Fred play together for United, it would appear the former Real Madrid man is the one who got it right.
Boss Erik ten Hag has placed plenty of faith in Fred and for the most part has been rewarded for it, with the 29-year-old operating to a much higher level than previously seen now that Casemiro is the one playing next to him.
That was on show as recently as earlier this week when it was Casemiro who assisted Fred's first goal of the league season during United's comfortable 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.
Keane may never be convinced by Fred at the heart of United's midfield, but with Casemiro thriving as a protector, Ten Hag should no longer view the middle of the park as the glaring problem area it once so undeniably was under previous regimes.
