Casemiro furious in heated full-time spat with Bruno Fernandes despite Man Utd win

Manchester United boosted their hopes of securing a top-four finish with a slender 1-0 win over Aston Villa - but not everybody was in the mood to celebrate at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Bruno Fernandes bagged the winning goal in the 39th minute to silence the travelling fans, who had heckled the United captain since the opening stages of the match.

But the Portuguese midfielder was captured having a heated discussion with Casemiro at full-time as others around them revelled in the aftermath of a result that keeps Erik ten Hag's side comfortably ahead of the chasing pack in the race to pinch a Champions League place.

In scenes reminiscent of the duo's fiery on-field debrief after United's Carabao Cup triumph back in February, Casemiro could be seen wide-eyed and agitated during the chat with Fernandes before Harry Maguire approached them.

And the exchange quickly caught the attention of eagle-eyed Manchester United fans who were watching on television. The clip has already gone viral after being shared on social media.

Jadon Sancho also had words with Fernandes during the match, with the United winger appearing to chastise his teammate for "moaning". But it was still an afternoon to remember for Fernandes, whose winning strike was the 100th league goal of his career.

And Fernandes hailed the importance of the win as United bid to build momentum ahead of the final weeks of the campaign with their mouthwatering FA Cup final showdown with Manchester City at Wembley also on the horizon.

Speaking to Premier League Productions after the match, Fernandes said: "We always do everything to win the game, not every time it is possible but the team always do everything to win the game.

"It's always important because this club is about winning games. It doesn't matter the opponent we play against, we knew we were playing against a good team who haven't lost in 10 games and who have good players and good patterns but we also knew that we are capable to do our job and win the game.

"We did what we were trained to do, we could have scored more goals but we are happy with the 1-0 and the three points.

"It's really important for us to get top four and then we have to think about winning a trophy so we have to find the energy and aim for the top four and the FA Cup."

Manchester United were nine points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham before their match against Liverpool kicked off on Sunday afternoon in the race for the top four.
