Indian editorial cartoonist Satish Acharya’s artwork has been put on display in New York’s Times Square, as part of NFT.NYC 2022 exhibition. The artwork titled “I care” is one of 200 works shortlisted for the event.
NFT.NYC is a global event which showcases digital art, particularly non-fungible tokens, and attracts artists, technology professionals and NFT collectors. Acharya’s artwork is on display as part of the “Diversity of NFTs” art collection.
Taking to Twitter, Acharya said, “This is not an accomplishment, but a very happy moment in this tough phase as an editorial cartoonist.” Speaking to the Deccan Herald about his artwork he said, “The artwork’s message is that because humans are obsessed with investing and upgrading new technologies, there is very little compassion in the world. Human-created machines may one day be more compassionate and caring than humans.”
Acharya’s work spans across politics, current affairs and sports. The cartoonist was associated with Mid Day for eight years. Apart from that, his work has appeared in publications such as Mail Today, Sportstar, Gulf News, Sports Illustrated, The Print and Frontline.
