Carter-Vickers lifts lid on costly moment that led to Rangers' winner vs Celtic

Cameron Carter-Vickers has lifted the lid on his missed header that led to Rangers' winner at Celtic Park on Sunday.

The Ibrox side went in at the break 2-0 up, thanks to goals from Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande.

Celtic, however, with 15 minutes to go, found themselves back level as Japanese duo Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate both scored.

The game looked to be going only one way until substitute Hamza Igamane stepped up and rifled an effort from the edge of the box into the top-right corner of a helpless Kasper Schmeichel's goal.

In the lead-up to the strike, a ball was sent high into the Celtic final third. Carter-Vickers looked to have misjudged it, Alistair Johnston then slipped, and Igamane found the back of the net.

The American centre-half opened up on the moment of madness and was asked whether he'd got a shout to leave the ball: "No, it was just over my head, I couldn't see," he said.

"I followed Dessers in, it went above our heads. And then, I don't know what happened, but I think Ali might have slipped when he went to clear it.

"And from there, it kind of ricocheted back into Igamane’s path, and he scored the goal."

Celtic have now lost consecutive matches to Rangers, and in their past three games against the Ibrox club, they have conceded nine goals.

Brendan Rodgers was used to lording it up in the fixture until recent times when both Philippe Clement and Barry Ferguson have got the better of him.
