Carsphairn residents urged to boil drinking water due to potential network fault

People in Carsphairn and the surrounding area are being urged to boil their water before drinking.

Scottish Water has imposed a boil notice as they investigate a potential fault at their water treatment works.

As a result, water should be boiled for drinking, cleaning teeth, washing open wounds, preparing baby feeds and preparing food for adults and pets.

There is no requirement to boil water for bathing, showering or washing, washing dishes or washing clothes.

Bottled water is available to be collected from the church hall.

A Scottish Water spokesman said: “This boil notice will remain in place until at least Friday, September 9.

“We may require to interrupt water supplies for a short period of time at points throughout the week to allow us to carry out our investigations at the water treatment works. However, this will just be intermittently and should restore within one to two hours of interruption.

“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience that this will cause and thank our customers for their understanding whilst we carry out our investigations.”
