Cars forced to swerve as idiotic driver does three-point turn in Queensway tunnel

Cars were forced to swerve after a careless driver did a three-point turn in the Queensway tunnel.

Footage widely circulated on social media showed cars in the Queensway Tunnel, which connects Liverpool city centre and Birkenhead, having to slam on and swerve into other lanes to avoid the driver's manoeuvre. The footage, dated Saturday, March 25 shortly after 11am, shows the driver pull across two lanes of traffic to perform the illegal turn.

The driver narrowly misses a Range Rover which swerves into the left lane to avoid the car. The driver then spins their wheel as they quickly pull away in the opposite direction.

Cars travelling in the opposite direction were also forced to slow down to avoid crashing into the driver. The driver puts their hand up in apology to another car it narrowly misses.

Mersey Tunnels Police has now confirmed officers are investigating the dangerous manoeuvre. A spokesperson for Mersey Tunnels Police said: "Mersey Tunnels Police are aware of the incident which has been recorded on CCTV and police investigations are ongoing.

"The safety of Mersey Tunnels customers is of paramount importance as is compliance with the Mersey Tunnels Byelaws. We thank those customers who have assisted Mersey Tunnels Police in respect of this incident."
