The Prime Minister's wife Carrie Johnson has said she is to be fined over parties in Downing Street during lockdown restrictions, it has been reported. This afternoon, it was revealed her husband Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak will also be fined.
The Telegraph reported that Ms Johnson had been told she would receive a fixed penalty notice. The Met Police have said more than 50 fines are set to be issued.
The spokeswoman for the Prime Minister’s wife said: “In the interests of transparency, Mrs Johnson can confirm she has been notified that she will receive a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN). She has not yet received any further details about the nature of the FPN.”
There have been calls for both Mr Johnson and Mr Sunak to resign in the wake of the fines. This is a developing story and will be updated shortly.
