Add Ben Chilwell to the list. The list of players that, if they were in a team together competing at the World Cup in full fitness, would probably be favourites to win the thing.
Mike Maignan is in goal, Reece James is on the right, Raphael Varane and Ronald Araujo in the middle. The midfield itself, wow, Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante - the keystone of the reigning champions - and Georgino Wijnaldum, who Jurgen Klopp probably misses quite a lot.
Up front, Timo Werner, Son Heung-Min and Diogo Jota. Some team. None of the players are likely to be at the tournament. This doesn't include more players that are serious doubts, Kyle Walker will likely be in recovery, Manuel Neuer too. Kalvin Phillips isn't certain and Richarlison hasn't played in three weeks at Tottenham.

The list of players that could be missing is huge, it would give the current injured XI a run for its money as alternative tournament favourites, and former Chelsea defender William Gallas has criticised the decision to hold the tournament in the winter.
Speaking to GentingCasino, the Frenchman said, "I don’t think having a World Cup midway through the season was a good idea. Unfortunately, a lot of players are getting injured before the World Cup. There are too many competitions in football. We have the World Cup, Champions League, leagues and cup competitions. But for the national teams, it’s not good. The more competitions there are, then the more injuries you have and players are exhausted. And that is a problem.
"To put the World Cup in the middle of the season doesn’t help, players are worried about their injuries so when you see the performances of the players during these games, I don’t think some of them are at 100% because they are scared of getting injured and missing the biggest competition in the world. That’s why you can see some of the performances are really poor."
Chilwell is the latest to be ruled out following his hamstring scan brought back 'signicant' results of a bad injury, ruling the fullback out of the Qatar plans for Gareth Southgate, and denting his recovery from another long-term injury.
It comes as Jamie Carragher and other pundits increase the pressure on FIFA amid political and logistical standings that continue to attract attention from supporters and instituations.
The former Liverpool player said after Son's injury for Tottenham: "I think it’s an absolute disgrace that the World Cup is in the position that it's in, for lots of reasons," Carragher told CBS Sports.
"They campaigned on having it in the summer, it is impossible there to have a World Cup in the summer with the temperature, it gets moves to the situation where it is now in the middle of the season.
"Players who spend their whole lives dreaming of playing in a World Cup and now could be [out] – as we’ve seen with Son, players all around the world, [Raphael] Varane was crying coming off the pitch at Stamford Bridge. That’s how close we are to a World Cup."
Paul Merson agrees with Gallas and Carragher, adding, "You're talking about the pinnacle of your career and the World Cup, it's the ultimate.
"I think it's a joke, I really do, having a World Cup at this time of the year. It is for everybody, if you walked down to the local shopping centre today and say 'when do England play their three games, 100 people wouldn't know when they were, they wouldn't have a clue.
"That's what this is all about, I feel for the players like Reece James. For England to win the World Cup Reece James needs to be in the team 100% and he gets injured and Chilwell gets injured and Kyle Walker gets injured. I know people get injured but you do get a rest in the summer."
