Carpenter Technology Sees Composite Rating Climb To 96

Carpenter Technology saw an improvement in its IBD SmartSelect Composite Rating Wednesday, from 92 to 96.

The revised score means the stock currently tops 96% of all other stocks in terms of key performance metrics and technical strength.

Carpenter Technology is trading within a buy range from a 198.24 entry from a cup without handle. But note that it's a later-stage base, and such bases are more prone to failure.

Lean How — And When — To Sell Stocks

The stock earns an 80 EPS Rating, which means its recent quarterly and longer-term annual earnings growth tops 80% of all stocks.

Its Accumulation/Distribution Rating of B shows moderate buying by institutional investors over the last 13 weeks.

In Q2, the company posted 95% EPS growth. Revenue growth fell to 8%, down from 10% in the prior quarter.

Carpenter Technology holds the No. 1 rank among its peers in the Steel-Specialty Alloys industry group. ATI and INNOVATE are also among the group's highest-rated stocks.
