Carole Baskin sues Netflix over Tiger King 2 and demands producers remove all footage of her – here’s why

While fans may be looking forward to their next slice of zoo drama, one of the stars of Tiger King is not best pleased that the series is getting a sequel.

Carole Baskin – the hero or villain of the show, depending on how you viewed it – is so miffed that she is suing the streaming giant and demanding that producers cut out all footage of her.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Baskin alleges she signed a contract in the first series which “doesn’t give producers a right to continue using the footage in the subsequent projects...including this sequel.”

She argues the footage they’ve teased in the trailer isn’t new and was just leftover from the first series. The big cat enthusiast is also arguing the producers are spinning to look as if she is giving “new interviews or insight”.

It comes after Netflix released the trailer series two of the hit show, which first came to our screens during the first national lockdown and became a big hit. It followed the life of now-imprisoned zoo-owner Joe Exotic and questioned the disappearance of Baskin’s ex-husband Don Lewis who went missing in 1997 and was declared dead following a fruitless five year search.

Baskin also took legal action because she was made to look responsible for Lewis’ disappearance, she alleges. In the series, Exotic accused Baskin of killing her former husband and feeding him to the tigers.

She also claims that the original series undermined her animal sanctuary, Big Cat Rescue’s mission.

The series is set to air on 17 November. Safe to say it’s causing drama before it’s even been released.
