Carol Wright defends Mark and Michelle's marriage as they spend anniversary apart

Carol Wright has insisted everything is hunky dory for her son Mark and his wife Michelle Keegan as some fans noticed they spent their wedding anniversary apart.

Carol, 62, is proud mother to 35-year-old Mark and has taken 34-year-old Michelle into her bosom as her beloved daughter-in-law.

Mark and Michelle tied-the-knot in a lavish ceremony at St Mary's Church in Bury St Edmunds on 24 May 2015 – with the couple celebrating seven years as husband and wife this month.

However, the pair were torn apart on their big day – with Michelle said to be jetting to Australia to film a BBC project and Mark was off travelling around Europe.

As fans picked up on the fact the pair had spent yet another anniversary apart – having been kept separated due to work commitments in the past – Carol waded in to insist all was well.

According to OK!, Carol wrote a gushing Instagram comment underneath an anniversary post that Mark shared.

She wrote: “Happy anniversary to my son and daughter-in-law. Wow, seven years, but I only said today listening to you talking daily whilst you’re far away working in different parts of the world – the love is unreal.

"Yes, I do listen whilst walking past the room when Mark is in conversation, – he talks loud. But you two have an unconditional love that you have survived with having to travel apart.”

However, Carol subsequently and mysteriously deleted her message.

A source shone more light on Mark and Michelle’s relationship, telling OK!: “The Wrights are so family oriented

“He’s spending a lot more time with his family while Michelle is away.

"It’s a shame as they have spent so much money on their dream home where they wanted to enjoy quality time together, but it seems they haven’t managed that yet – one is always there and the other isn’t.

“Mark is very romantic so he made sure to give Michelle an anniversary gift before she left. They’re always on the phone and on Zoom, but it’s not like being together in the flesh.”

Meanwhile, both Mark and Michelle shared gushing anniversary tributes of their own on their actual anniversary, uploading previously unseen snaps from their wedding day to Instagram.

Michelle wrote on her feed: “Happy Anniversary to my husband, my best friend & biggest supporter. Love you.”

While Mark wrote: "7 years of being your husband. It never gets old. Happy anniversary love you.”

Michelle and Mark are expected to see their marriage tested by distance disruption once again, however, as the ex-Corrie star is expected to spend months Down Under filming her new show.

The pair previously lived on different continents when Mark had a presenting role in California and Michelle was filming Our Girl in South Africa.

Michelle’s new drama show is said to be called Ten Pound Poms, and will follow a group of British people leaving the UK in 1956 to go on an adventure half-way across the world.

A source told The Sun earlier this month: “Michelle has always had one big dream, which is appearing in a period drama and Ten Pound Poms will let her dip her toe in those past times.”
