University of Cambridge alumni Carol Vorderman took a trip to her beloved former college, where she revealed to fans that there was a room named after her. The former Countdown star, who lives in Clifton, returned to her alma mater to pay tribute to her former tutor, and decided to share the "Carol Vorderman Buttery" with her followers.
"A special room (where the wine is sold) named after you know who!!!" Carol, 62, said. "In a Cambridge College. Very proud."
According to WalesOnline, Carol started studying at Sidney Sussex College in Cambridge as a 17-year-old in 1978, reading engineering. She gushed to fans that it was "an honour" to be part of the college.

For those unfamiliar with the seemingly archaic term, a buttery is a room within a college where food and/or drink, in this case, wine, is kept and sold to students. Traditionally, it takes the form of a large cellar room.
"I never thought that I would have a college room named after me either," the maths whizz told fans. "The Carol Vorderman Buttery is where the wine is handled and from where it’s sold to students. It’s next to the main dining hall built in 1596."
Carol was back in Cambridge to attend the memorial service of her old tutor, Donald Green, who she described as a "special human". She explained: "He was instrumental in bringing in comprehensive children (I was a free school meals kid) & opening the system to women.
"A very special human."
It's been a very nostalgic period for Carol as of late, as the TV personality recently stopped by the Channel 4 headquarters, where she posed with her old friend the Countdown clock. For 26 years, Carol was a co-host of the teatime competition show between 1982 and 2008, and paid a visit to Channel 4 HQ to take part in an internal panel on International Women's Day last week.
